The Butler Area School Board has approved the sale of the former Oakland School.
The board approved the motion by a vote of 5-2 at a special meeting held Wednesday night. An agreement of sale will be drafted with Woodbine Oaks, LP for a price of $363,600.
Board member Jennifer Cummings was one of those opposed to the move as she asked for discussion about retaining Oakland to create a magnet school which would bring in revenue.
Other members said that the location, cost, and amount of time it would require make that idea an unrealistic option with the district’s current financial situation.
