The Butler Area School District is continuing their investment in technology.
By a vote of 8-1 during a school board meeting Monday, officials approved a total of $175,000 worth of technology-related purchases coming out of the current year budget.
On the recommendation of district administrators, the board bought 90 touch screen monitors for grades 3 and 4, 60 LCD monitors for the senior high, and 240 iPad Air tablets, cases and carts. Those are expected to replace netbooks in elementary schools deemed to be “virtually unusable.”
Money exists in the 2015-2016 technology budget to cover this purchase but board member Neil Convery voted against the motion due to concerns about the ongoing state budget stalemate.
