The Butler Area School District has changed one school administrator and continues to look for someone to fill another position.
During a school board meeting on Monday, members approved the hiring of Theresa Cherry as the new principal of Center Township Elementary School. Cherry comes to the district from the Big Beaver Falls School District, where she was an elementary principal.
Cherry replaces former principal Jeff Mathieson who has accepted a position with PaTTAN, which is a branch of the state Department of Education that focuses on special education and professional development.
The board also approved the transfer of former Supervisor of Transportation Deborah Croft to the position of Payroll Supervisor. Croft requested the transfer and has bookkeeping and payroll experience. The job opening for Supervisor of Transportation has been posted and White hopes to fill that position as soon as possible.
