The Butler BlueSox defeated the Jamestown Jammers 5-1 Sunday night in the Prospect League. Butler’s starting pitcher, Connor Coward, allowed just one earned run over eight innings and struck out nine. David Marcus pushed his hitting streak to 12 games with an RBI single in the seventh inning. The Sox are currently tied with Champion City for first place in the Eastern Division second half. Both teams are 4-2. Butler is off until Friday for the Prospect League All-Star break. Their next home game won’t be until July 15th.
The Prospect League All-Star game will be played Wednesday night in Richmond, Indiana. Four BlueSox players will be participating. They include David Marcus who leads the Prospect League in batting, Matt Hansen, Alex Miklos, and relief pitcher Zach Spangler who leads the league in saves with 10.
