Butler could have another BlueSox team to root for as soon as next year.
The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority received the BlueSox name as part of the settlement with the former owners and is now considering offers to join a league in 2020.
One of the offers under consideration would be to join the Great Lakes League with 21 home games per year. The other offer would be to join the Tri-State League which would play 18 games at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park. The BlueSox last played a game in 2018 as a member of the Prospect League.
In either option, the Authority would receive all revenue from team games as well as assume all financial responsibility. There is currently no deadline for a decision to be made but that could happen at the Authority’s next meeting in November.
