Butler Area School District Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley has resigned.
A notice posted to the Butler Area School District website confirms that the school board has accepted Lumley’s resignation with intent to retire, effective immediately.
Dr. William Pettigrew will serve as acting Superintendent, pending the School Board’s appointment of a new permanent superintendent.
Pettigrew is a former superintendent of the Mars Area School District and a current member of the Mars Area School Board. It is not known at this time if Pettigrew taking over as acting superintendent at Butler will affect his role leading the group responsible for looking into the Summit School water situation.
