–The Butler Girl’s Track & Field team captured the WPIAL Triple-A championship with victories over defending champion Hempfield, along with North Allegheny and Baldwin. Hempfield had been the five-time defending champs. It was Butler’s 10th WPIAL title, but first since 2011.
–First place finishers for Butler in all three meets: Heidi Gross in the Javelin, The 3200-meter relay team of Alexis Leech, Erin LeMay, Maggie Welty and Liz Simms. Taylor Weaver won the Pole Vault, Alexis Leech won the 400-meter run. Liz Simms won the 800-meter run. In the final event of the day, the 1600-meter relay team of Maddie Tonini, Liz Simms, Shana Hoy and Alexis Leech won with a season-best time of 3:59.72.
Other first place finishers: Maggie Welty won the 1600-meter run. Jena Reinheimer won the Discus and Shot-Put, Kylee Lewandowski won the High Jump and Julianna DiPippa won the Triple Jump.
–The Seneca Valley Boy’s Track & Field team also captured the WPIAL Triple-A championship over North Allegheny, who were four-time defending champions, along with Norwin and Baldwin. It was their first WPIAL Boys Triple-A title.
