A Butler School District bus driver is in trouble after allegedly “brake-checking” students on his bus, causing them to be thrown from their seats.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Butler as Bus 54 was transporting middle school students home for the day, according to our news partners at WPXI-TV. Some students were reportedly loudly fighting on the bus. The bus driver tried to verbally calm them down but when that didn’t work, he allegedly slammed on the brakes causing about 50 kids to fly out of their seats.
School officials told WPXI-TV that the driver, who is a Valley Lines employee, did not follow district protocol for handling the situation and have since demanded the driver be removed from all Butler School District routes.
