The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 in 10-innings last night at PNC Park. The Bucs tied the game in the ninth inning, on an Andrew McCutchen two-run double. In the 10th inning, the Rays scored twice on reliever Felipe Rivero to win the game. Rays starter Alex Cobb had no-hit the Pirates for the first six innings, and pitched eight scoreless.
The Pirates fell seven games under .500 – but still remain five games behind first-place Milwaukee, who lost to Cincinnati last night.
The Bucs and Rays play again tonight at 7:05pm. Ivan Nova will start for the Pirates. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm.
Andrew McCutchen was moved back to the number three spot in the Pirates batting line-up for last night’s game. He has raised his average to .272 with two hits last night. He batted sixth for 28 games, hitting .380 with 8 home runs.
