The Pirates bullpen struggled in the late innings again on Sunday as the Bucs surrendered a late lead to the St. Louis Cardinals and fell 6-4. Working with a 4-3 lead in the 8th inning, Pirates relievers Michael Feliz and Felipe Vazquez walked four out of the ten batters they faced and gave up three runs en route to a Cardinals series win.
The Pirates said after the game that Vazquez was dealing with left forearm discomfort—and said it was the first time Vazquez had dealt with a forearm injury. The Pirates now sit five games out of first place and take on the Chicago Cubs today at PNC Park at 1:35 p.m.
