Beginning next year, local residents will once again be able to hop on a Butler Transit Authority bus and ride from Butler to Pittsburgh for free.
The authority board of directors has approved a continuation of the “Week 3 Is Free” promotion in January, February, March, April, and May in which BTA commuter trips to Pittsburgh will be free for all passengers during the third full week of each month.
The authority first tried the promotion in May through August of this year and according to Executive Director John Paul, ridership “substantially” increased as a result. Paul also said that the authority will not be able to offer similar promotions in the third year of the service which begins in July of 2020.
Butler Transit offers real-time bus tracking, mobile ticketing, coach seats, USB charging ports and free WiFi. Fares start at $3.87 for transportation between Butler County and Pittsburgh.
