The Butler Transit Authority hopes to have their recently acquired buses on the road in the near future.
The authority’s board of directors approved a contract during a meeting Tuesday with Pro 1 Automotive in Butler to paint the three buses they purchased from the Port Authority in Pittsburgh.
Pro 1’s offer of nearly $32,000 was the lowest of the three bids received for the work.
After painting, the authority will need to contract with other companies to move necessary equipment from current buses, which are being retired due to rusting frames. They could possibly be looking into bus seat manufacturers as well.
Transit Authority administrators plan to have at least two of the three buses on the road by the end of July.
