The Butler Transit Authority is continuing to move forward with plans to move their terminal from East Cunningham Street to West New Castle Street.
During a meeting on Tuesday, the authority board of directors approved a five-year lease at a cost of $1,200 per month for the first year and a 3 percent increase per year each year after that. This agreement also includes an option for an additional five years at continued increases of 3 percent per year.
The landlord of the facility has agreed to make improvements to the property on West New Castle Street totaling nearly $74,000, which the Transit Authority will reimburse.
The authority plans to then apply for reimbursement from the state to help defray costs. The authority will also enter into a contract with Holbein for just over $25,000 to modify the Main Street intersection that will allow access to the new terminal by moving a sidewalk back and restriping traffic lanes.
The authority plans to have the new terminal ready by October.
