In order for Broad Street to reopen to students, an occupancy permit has to be issued from the City of Butler’s code enforcement department and traffic patterns near the school need to be adjusted.
Butler City Mayor Tom Donaldson said signs changing a portion of Broad Street back to one-way went up late Wednesday morning. Only southbound traffic will be allowed to travel on the portion of Broad Street between West Brady and West New Castle streets.
“We’re asking for people to be cautious and patient,” Mayor Donaldson. “There is going to be buses and students in the area again.”
Mayor Donaldson said he was not informed how long the district thinks they will need to use Broad Street for the Summit students.
Drivers in the area will also notice these signs, that were re-erected Wednesday morning surrounding Broad Street Elementary School in Butler City.
