Butler Area School District’s Broad Street Elementary School in the city was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a gas smell.
A representative from the district’s administration office said both students and staff were evacuated about 1:30 p.m. and taken to Emily Brittain Elementary as a precaution.
The district says a People’s Gas employee tested the building twice and nothing was found.
The school is back open today.
