A Butler High graduate and longtime local lawyer is running to be the next judge in Butler County.
Tom Breth announced his candidacy on Tuesday. He’ll seek the seat vacated by Judge Marilyn Horan on the Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
“I’m a lifelong resident of Butler County. I love this county and the people of it,” Breth said in an interview. “I think they deserve a judge that will give impartial and unbiased legal decisions. A judge that listens to them. Listens to the facts of the case. And applies the law in an unbiased and equal manner.”
Breth is a partner with the firm Dillon McCandless King Coulter & Graham in Butler. He primarily practices in the areas of civil litigation, education, employment and labor law.
Judge Horan, who served in the county Court of Common Pleas since the mid 90s, was confirmed in September as a Judge in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
