The water line leak in Foxburg that forced the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District to dismiss students early on Thursday has resulted in the cancellation of Friday classes.
The A-C Valley Superintendent David McDeavitt said he made the decision late Thursday evening not have classes on Friday and postpone all weekend activities in order to allow time for repaired water lines to be flushed for possible contaminants.
District officials were notified Thursday morning that a water line leak in Foxburg was causing the district to have little to no water pressure. By the time the district was notified by the Foxburg Water Authority, schools buses had already started picking up students for the day. Both elementary and high school students were brought to the school and then dismissed around 9 a.m.
Thursday was supposed to be A-C Valley’s second day of school. Instead, classes will resume Tuesday following the long Labor Day weekend.
