One person was seriously injured in an early Tuesday morning vehicle crash in northern Butler County.
The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Beaver Dam Road and Hallston Road in Clay Township. A northbound van and a southbound Dodge Avenger collided.
“The crash happened south of the intersection, on a hill,” West Sunbury Fire Chief Matt Wilson said. “The two vehicles hit front clip to front clip, basically head-on.”
There were two people in the car, and both only suffered minor injuries. But firefighters had to work to get a teenager out of the van.
“There was heavy entrapment in the van, which caused us to make multiple cuts and remove multiple pieces of the vehicle,” Wilson said.
Wilson said the teen was alert. He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
State police are investigating and had the road closed Tuesday morning as they completed an accident reconstruction.
