The Butler Senior High, Intermediate and Vo-Tech schools in Butler Township are on lock-down on Monday morning as a situation continues to unfold a few miles away.
“The Butler Area School District Senior High School, Intermediate High School and the Vo-Tech are currently on a perimeter lockdown due to an off campus issue involving law enforcement,” a district spokeswoman said Monday.
Police from several jurisdictions (including Butler Township, city of Butler and State Police) have a portion of Bessemer Avenue in the Lyndora section of Butler Township closed.
It’s unclear if the heavy police presence on Bessmer Avenue is related to the reported shooting earlier this morning at an apartment on Hansen Avenue in Butler Township. Police were initially called to that apartment about 8 a.m.
