The public is welcome to observe and participate in the ancient process of transforming grain into bread this weekend at McConnells Mill State Park.
In the courtyard of the historic gristmill from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. a gristmill baker will demonstrate cast iron bread making with a charcoal fire.
All the materials involved in this process can be found in the Slippery Rock Forge Valley. Those attending will have the chance to sample historic recipes.
Those attending are advised to drive past the mill to drop off passengers then park at the Kildoo Picnic area.
