A child was reportedly shot in the back by a family member on Christmas.
The shooting happened just south of the Butler County line- in Pine Township, northern Allegheny County.
Officials say a 12-year-old boy was holding a .22 caliber rifle when the firearm discharged striking the boy’s 17-year-old brother in the back, according to WPXI-TV.
The boy was taken to Allegheny General Hospital by ambulance. He was reportedly conscious and responsive when medics arrived.
Officers from the Northern Regional Police Department are investigating.
