A boy was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital Tuesday after he hit his head on a water slide at Alameda Water Park.
Aquatic Manager Ashley Helmstaedter said the boy was coming down the big blue tube slide about 2 p.m. when he lifted his head and hit it off the top of the slide.
“He hit his head which caused a whiplash motion,” she said.
The boy was holding his head and neck when he entered the water. Lifeguards quickly tended to him and placed him on a backboard. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Helmstaedter said the boy was conscious the entire time. He has not been identified.
“The last I heard he was doing well,” she said.
The pool was closed for about 40 minutes before reopening. It will be open Wednesday with normal hours.
“There was no water issues or any blood in the water or anything like that,” she said.
