The Pennsylvania State Police Bomb Squad was called to neighboring Armstrong County Monday after several suspected explosives were found in a man’s home.
Officers went to a home in Bethel Township, Armstrong County (east of Ford City) early Monday morning to serve a warrant for 36-year-old Matt Strohm of Vandergrift concerning a different incident.
When police arrived, Strohm allegedly brandished a rifle and a handgun. After the weapons were taken and Strohm was arrested, police searched the home and discovered two suspected explosive devices that were made using Nestle Quick containers. The containers were duct-taped and contained ball bearings, nails and suspected explosive material, according to police.
The bomb squad inspected the devices and were able to safely remove and dispose of them. No one was hurt.
Strohm faces a long list of charges, including two counts of possessing a weapon of mass destruction.
