Butler Area School District administrators admit their transportation projections from last year were unattainable.
Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley told the school board’s After-Action Review Committee that in hindsight, the goal of no bus ride over 45 minutes this year was unrealistic. The goal before consolidation was no bus ride over 60 minutes.
New Transportation Supervisor Deborah Croft provided the committee with various charts comparing the first quarter of this year to the first quarter of last year. Out of a total 310 bus runs per day, nearly 20 percent are longer than 50 minutes.
Croft also compared Butler to transportation statistics that other districts in the area reported. Butler is a bit higher than most but they also cover more area.
The district would like to invest in improved mapping software in order to improve accuracy and efficiency.
