The Pennsylvania Game Commission has taken the first step to change the start of rifle deer hunting season.
For decades, rifle deer hunting season has started on the Monday after Thanksgiving. But, spokesman Travis Lau says the state game commission has given preliminary approval to beginning the season on the Saturday after the holiday.
With fewer schools giving students off on the Monday after Thanksgiving and many college students having classes on that day, Lau says the change would also give more young people the opportunity to hunt.
The commission will take a final vote on the change April 9th.
