Now that the Food and Drug Administration as well as the Centers for Disease Control have approved pediatric COVID-19 vaccine for ages 6 months to 4 years old, the Butler Health System is preparing to host special clinics.
A clinic distributing Pediatric Moderna Vaccine will be held at Butler Memorial Hospital next Saturday (7/9) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. An additional Pediatric Clinic is planned for Saturday July, 30th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As with previous vaccines, this immunization involves two shots administered four weeks apart which would mean that second doses would begin to be administered August 9th.
Unlike previous adult vaccines, the 6 month to 4 years old version will administer a lower dose with each shot. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to the clinic and bring photo ID along with the child’s insurance card.
Appointments for first doses can be scheduled through the BHS website which will also provide information about possible future vaccine clinic dates. Pediatric dose vaccines will only be available at these special clinics and will not be available at general vaccine clinics.
