This week is the ‘Being Mortal’ screening and discussion at the Butler Hospital and there’s more to this event than watching a free screening of the PBS special.
Roni Lucas, with Good Samaritan Hospice, who is a partner with the Butler Health System, spoke with our radio station about this and said there is a need for their services when someone goes to the hospital and there are so many different professional disciplines involved with a patient. Their effort, along with Butler Hospital’s Palliative Care Department, is to educate patients on exactly who to seek out to get all the information that is needed.
They are also working on the needs of the professionals so they also have the information to pass along for the best care of the patient.
One event in this effort is a screening of PBS’s Being Mortal program followed by expert panel for an open discussion with attendees.
It will be on Thursday (1/19) at 5:30pm in the Findley Auditorium of the hospital. This is free and open to the public.
