The Butler BlueSox have reached the Prospect League championship game following a 6-5 victory over West Virginia last night. The win gave the Sox a 2-0 series win for the Eastern Division championship. Josh LaPiana allowed two runs over seven innings. He struck out 11. Butler native Wyatt Daugherty earned the save by closing out the ninth inning. Daugherty got the final two outs with runners on first and third. Shortstop Pavin Parks had a home run and drove in three.
The Sox will await their opponent after Terra Haute defeated Lafayette 4-3 last night to even the Western Division best-of-three series at 1-1. They will play again tonight.
Game one of the Prospect League Championship Series will be played at the Western Division champions stadium. Game two comes to Butler Saturday night. If a game three is necessary, it will be played Sunday in Butler. It will be the BlueSox first-ever appearance in the league championship series.
