Despite getting just three hits and allowing 12, the Butler BlueSox defeated the West Virginia Miners 2-1 last night to open a two-game series here in Butler. BlueSox pitchers struck out 10 Miners batters. Reliever Wyatt Daugherty struck out four of the six batters he faced in earning his second save of the season. Starting pitcher Chad Coles went five innings, allowing just one run. He scattered seven hits, striking out three. The two teams play again tonight at 7:05pm.
The Altoona Curve swept a doubleheader from the Harrisburg Senators Tuesday by identical 1-0 scores. The victories moved the Curve past the Senators into second place in the Eastern League Western Division. They now trail Akron by two games.
