Butler will have another BlueSox team to root for as soon as next year.
The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority received the BlueSox name as part of the settlement with the former owners and will field a team with that name in 2020 pending solicitor review of all contracts and final board approval.
The plan is to join the Tri-State League which would play 18 games at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park beginning in late May and continuing into the first week of July. The Tri-State League currently has seven teams in the western PA and eastern Ohio region.
The Authority would like to enter into an agreement with Core Athletics to manage the baseball aspect of the team while the Authority handles marketing and sponsorships. Core Athletics was in charge of the Iron Bucs team that played in Butler last summer.
The Authority will receive all revenue from team games as well as assume all financial responsibility. The BlueSox last played a game in 2018 as a member of the Prospect League.
