The Lafayette Aviators defeated the Butler BlueSox 12-0 Sunday to win the Prospect League Championship for 2017. The Aviators broke open a 2-0 lead with 10 runs in the top of the ninth inning to claim the title. The Sox went 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position for a frustrating day that saw two players ejected during the game. Lafayette won the Saturday night game 11-8 and won the best-of-three series 2-1. The Aviators outscoring the Sox 23-8 over the two games in Butler, after falling to the Sox 14-1 in game one.
The Sox drew 1,766 fans over the two games played in Butler over the weekend, including 1,059 for Saturday night’s game.
