The Butler BlueSox completed their longest road trip of the season with a three-game winning streak after defeating the Richmond River Rats 5-2 last night. David Marcus had three hits for Butler, including his third home run of the season. Josh LaPiana picked up his third win of the season for the Sox, allowing just one earned runs over seven innings. He stuck out six. Closer Zach Spangler earned his 10th save of the season. He is just three saves away from the all-time Sox record. 16 saves in a season is the Prospect League record. Spangler has a 0.77 ERA this season. The win improved the Sox record to 13-14 overall in the first half of the Prospect League Eastern Division. They will close out the first half Tuesday at home against Richmond.
Jamestown will host West Virginia Tuesday, the winner will capture the Eastern Division first half title, and lock up a playoff spot. Terre Haute has already clinched the Western Division first half.
