The Butler BlueSox defeated the Chillicothe Paints, 11-5, on Butler Radio Network night, behind two home runs from James Meeker and a record-setting homer by Patrick Ferguson for their third consecutive win. Meeker gave Butler a 2-0 lead in the first four batters.The blast over the right field fence was not only the first of the season for Meeker, but his first in two seasons as a member of the BlueSox.
Meeker went deep again in the sixth, again, a two-run shot.
Meeker also drove in a run with an RBI single in the fifth inning to drive his RBI total to five on the night. He was one shy of the BlueSox single-game record of six RBIs.
Butler starting pitcher Alex Stobert picked up his second win in as many starts this summer. Stobert allowed five runs, all earned, over six innings on seven hits.
The BlueSox go for the four-game sweep tonight at 6:35 p.m. at Kelly Automotive Ballpark. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Babe the Ox bobblehead and fireworks will follow the Thirsty Thursday game.
