Yesterday (October 19th), Blake Shelton filed a lawsuit against tabloid magazine In Touch Weekly over a cover story they wrote about him saying that his heavy drinking was a major contributing factor in his divorce from Miranda Lambert. The magazine also reported that The Voice star was headed to rehab.
The suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The AP reports that Blake is seeking more than $1 million in damages as well as an injunction to prevent In Touch Weekly from repeating the untrue things they have written about him in the past.
In Touch reported last month that Blake had “hit rock bottom” and was seeking treatment. His attorneys refute that in the lawsuit writing, “To be clear: Mr. Shelton has not hit rock bottom . . . Mr. Shelton is not in rehab and has no plans to go to rehab.” Documents also claim that Blake sought a retraction of the story but got no response from In Touch Weekly.
