Many are heading back to work and school on Tuesday in the midst of bitter cold temperatures.
Butler County is under a Wind Chill Advisory through noon Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. Wind chills in some areas were expected to get as low as 15 degrees below zero, which can cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin, according to the NWS.
According to the National Weather Service:
"A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves."
All public schools in Butler County that were scheduled to have class today are on a delay this morning due to cold weather.
Butler, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock and Karns City school districts are operating on a two-hour delay schedule. To see a list of school and community delays and cancellations, click here.
