A bill that will more harshly penalize street racers is expected to be sign into law by Governor Josh Shapiro with bipartisan support.
After two state troopers where hit by street racers Philadelphia, city officials wrote tighter and stricter laws for street racers. Now legislators in Harrisburg are following their lead.
State law currently sees street racers fined a $250; now with bipartisan support the fine will be raised to $2000 for first time offenses and for second offenses the driver’s vehicle will be taken away.
Meetups are often spread and set up on social media, the law will also penalize those who organize the meetups.
The governor is expected to sign the bill.
