Penn State won the Big-10 championship with a 38-31 victory over Wisconsin Saturday. Nittany Lions quarterback Trace McSorley threw for 384 yards and four touchdowns, which were both Big-10 championship game records. The Lions accepted a bid to play in the Rose Bowl January 2nd against Southern California (9-3). The game will kick-off at 5pm.
The College Football Playoff will not include the Big-10 champs, who complete the regular season ranked fifth. On New Year’ Eve in the national semifinals, Alabama (13-0) will meet Washington (12-1) at 3pm in the Georgia Dome, and Clemson (12-1) will meet Ohio State (11-1) in Glendale, Arizona at 7pm.
Alabama won the SEC title with a 54-16 victory over Florida Saturday. Clemson defeated Virginia Tech 42-35 to win the ACC title. Washington defeated Colorado 41-10 to win the Pac-12 title Friday.
The Pitt Panthers (8-4) have accepted a bid to play in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in New York City December 28th against Northwestern (6-6). Kick-off will be 2pm. The Panthers are currently ranked 22nd.
#14-ranked West Virginia (10-2) will face Miami (8-4) in the Russell Athletic Bowl December 28th at 5:30pm in Orlando.
Sixth-ranked Michigan will meet Florida State in the Orange Bowl December 30th.
