The Butler Health System has received a grant to help local people with diabetes.
The US Department of Health and Human Services awarded $200,000 to BHS and the online managed care company, Wellbe, to implement a Rural Health Care Services Outreach Grant Program.
The program will use online tools like video conferencing to assist people living in Butler, Venango, Lawrence and Clarion counties as they deal with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes.
The goal of the program is to improve self management knowledge and behavior so that disease management costs will decrease.
