A local lawmaker is asking for help from the Lawrence County District Attorney to fight parking tickets issued at a recent event.
Representative Aaron Bernstine held an event last Thursday at a private residence in Ellwood City to announce legislation that would better regulate municipal electric costs.
However many people attending the event including Bernstine himself received parking tickets from the Ellwood City Police Department. Bernstine maintains that the tickets were given for no justifiable reason so after a meeting with the Ellwood City mayor and police, the Lawrence County DA is being asked to investigate.
Bernstine has already paid his ticket because he does not want the perception that he is trying to avoid the $25 fee. If the tickets are revoked, Bernstine plans to ask police to use his money as a donation for a future community outreach project.
Anyone with information about the events surrounding the Bernstine press conference is asked to forward it to the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office in New Castle.
