Local State Rep. Aaron Bernstine said he will do what he cans to stop the state House from voting on anti-gun legislation that he believes would violate the Pennsylvania constitution.
The freshman lawmaker- who represents constituents in Slippery Rock- has filed 79 amendments to the two bills, which have cleared some procedural hurdles in the state House of Representatives.
One of the bills would ban certain types of firearms and firearm devices, such as bump stocks.
The other would allow law enforcement or family members to seek a court order to suspend a person’s right to possess or purchase a firearm if a judge deems that the person is suicidal or dangerous.
“Legislation that chips away at our Second Amendment rights will never get my support in the General Assembly, and I’ll do everything in my power to stop such attempts in their tracks,” Bernstine said in a statement.
The amendments were filed in an effort to prevent the chamber from ever voting on the legislation.
