Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell was eliminated in the opening round of the Home Run Derby last night at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Bell lost to Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna, Jr. 25-18. The Derby and its $1 million top prize was won by Pete Alonso of the New York Mets, who defeated Toronto rookie Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the final round.
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played tonight in Cleveland. Bell will be the designated hitter for the National League and will bat sixth. The game begins at 8pm and will be televised on Fox.
