A recall has been issued for beef patties sold at Walmart stores in several states, including Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The Huisken Meat Company says it is recalling nearly 90,000 pounds of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion Patties” because pieces of wood were found in the onions.
The frozen patties come in quantities of six in cardboard packaging and have the SKU number 078742028989, Est # 394A.
They also have the “Best if used by” dates of 5/17/16 or 5/29/16 or 06/11/16.
No injuries to consumers have been reported. Customers who purchased the product can return it to the store for a full refund.
In a statement, Huisken’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Michael Riley, said, “The safety of our products is our first concern and we will redouble our efforts to ensure the safety of the ingredients we buy for our products. Although we believe the likelihood is low that this product contains foreign material, we knew it was essential to report the issue to FSIS and initiate a voluntary recall. We are cooperating fully with federal inspection officials and will do everything possible to prevent this from occurring in the future.”
