A Pittsburgh Pirate and Mars Area High School graduate visited Mars Area Primary Center on Wednesday to meet with students at his old elementary school.
Students in kindergarten and first grade greeted David Bednar (Class of 2013) in the school’s gymnasium, where on behalf of the Pirates, he donated baseball equipment, including bats, balls, gloves, and t-ball stands to be used in physical education classes.
Some first-graders had the opportunity to join in several baseball activities, led by Bednar and the Pirate Parrot. The students received a Pirates T-shirt and participated in some exercises, then tested their pitching skills by throwing baseballs into a net.
Both Bednar and the Pirate Parrot signed the shirts and posed for pictures with student and staff.
