Bed bugs have been found inside a classroom at Mars Area High School.
In a letter to parents on Tuesday, the superintendent said the bugs were found in Classroom 140, which is the district’s life skills room and is set up like an apartment.
The room has been sealed and will remain closed through the weekend, when it will be treated and cleaned by an exterminator. Any students who have been recently in or around that room are advised to remove and seal all clothing in a plastic garbage bag for 24 hours before thoroughly washing.
In a separate letter to parents on Tuesday, the superintendent said a “foul, musty” odor discovered at the Mars Area Elementary School has been dealt with. As a precaution, follow-up air quality tests will be done at all schools district-wide.
