Even though it is the middle of summer, it’s an exciting time at Butler County Community College beginning with an increase in state funding.
“Community colleges have received a 2.5 percent increase. What that means for Butler County Community College would be an additional $170,000 in operating that would come to the college,” BC3 President Dr. Nick Neupauer said.
After last year’s stressful budget stalemate, learning about an increase in state funds in a timely manner is great news, Neupauer notes.
Work is also progressing on schedule at the new Heaton Family Learning Commons at BC3’s Main Campus.
“Everything that we have discussed, everything that we have looked at on paper is coming to reality,” Neupauer said. “It is unbelievable. We have a donor event coming up in mid-August for donors of a certain level. Then we include it as part of our opening sessions with a fall convocation, student orientation, and student welcome day. We actually have an event for students, faculty and staff that will be August 30th.”
Neupauer is confident that the new commons will be an asset for the community as well as a welcome addition for learners of all different age groups on the BC3 campus.
