Butler County Community College is borrowing money due to the ongoing state budget standoff.
At their meeting Wednesday, BC3 trustees approved taking out two different lines of credit totaling $3 million from Farmers National Bank in Emlenton. The loans have a variable rate of interest.
According to a college spokesperson, BC3 only has enough reserves remaining in their operating fund to get to the end of the year.
With the two loans, BC3 should be able to remain operational through April. The college is hopeful that the state will refund interest payments for loans taken due to the ongoing budget impasse.
