The Butler Area School District will be paying more for trash collection under a new three-year agreement.
Waste Management was one of two vendors submitting proposals for trash and recycling collection services from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021.
According to acting director of business services Nick Morelli, the average annual price for each year of the agreement is about $42,000. This represents a roughly 10 percent increase over the current year agreement, which is also with Waste Management and which also covered three years.
The district currently has 11 facilities which receive pickup anywhere from once a week to five times a week.
