The Butler Area School District could be revising their student dress code.
Representatives from a committee, which includes members of the district’s administration, teachers, parents and students, presented information to the Butler School Board during a meeting on Monday about possible changes.
One proposed change would be to allow torn or ragged clothing, as long as the holes or tears are below the fingertips when students’ arms are fully extended at their sides. Another would be to allow leggings or other similar tight-fitting clothing, as long as a top is worn that covers the student’s behind.
Officials say the goal is to have all students fully covered, but they want a policy that is not too specific to allow for changing fashions.
