Today is the first day of school in the Butler Area School District.
A lot of students will be heading to a new classroom today because of the district’s consolidation. Five of the district’s 11 elementary schools closed in June, and all remaining schools had grade reconfigurations. Center Avenue Elementary was closed and reopened as Center Avenue Community School, which is a special needs and alternative program.
The Butler Jr. High School was closed, remodeled, and reopened as the Butler Middle School for fifth and sixth graders. The Butler Intermediate will now house seventh, eighth and ninth graders. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will head to the Butler High School.
