The Butler Area School District has been approved to use a new state option to make up one of the days missed as a result of transportation issues at the beginning of the year.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White notified the School Board Monday night that the Department of Education has approved a plan to use a Flexible Instructional Day—also known as FID—on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (November 27) so that students will get credit for a day of school without physically being in class.
The exact details are still being worked out with teachers but students will receive a take home kit of work required to be completed in order for the day to be counted as one of instruction.
As of right now, no other Butler Area School District snow days will be made up using Flexible Instructional Days but that could change depending on the success of the one day that is currently scheduled.
